The challenge
The client was paid in dirhams and planned to return to London within two years. Many high-street lenders would not lend on foreign-currency income, and others applied heavy currency haircuts to his salary.
What we did
We approached specialist expat lenders that accept UAE income and assess currency risk case by case. We provided employment contracts, overseas payslips and a UK credit footprint. We explained the currency risk of paying a sterling mortgage from foreign income.
The outcome
An offer was issued at 75% loan to value, allowing him to buy before returning to the UK.
